This is an exclusive (masterclass) workshop on the Graham technique. Taught by Ghislaine van den Heuvel on Saturday 6th July at Studio West.
Ghislaine is originally from Maastricht, the Netherlands, and now she’s based in New York City. She danced with Graham 2 Company for 3 years and performed feature roles of the Graham repertoire. After having specialized in this Graham legacy, Ghislaine became a certified Graham teacher. Currently, she is a freelance professional dancer working with different dance companies and teaches while still being very connected to the Martha Graham Dance Center. She is part of the Dance Spotlight Advanced Martha Graham Dance Technique DVD project with Miki Orihara.
Her ambition is to pass along the Graham legacy. What you can expect from the workshop in Graham technique is a part of floor work, standing, combinations and across the floor.
Recognized as one of the greatest artists of the 20th century, Martha Graham created a movement language based on the expressive capacity of the human body.
The Graham technique has been taught worldwide. Today, it continues to serve as a rich and powerful training and influences contemporary dance.
Please note that these workshops are open to you who have experience of the Graham technique, an intermediate to advanced level in dance is advised.
